Nappy Hair!

How to Fall in Love with Yours

Speak up! Speak out!

About your own nappy hair

There is an ongoing controversy about black women and their nappy hair. Every body is up in the mix.

Tyra Banks is doing shows on it, Chris Rock is doing an entire movie on it.

All of the attention has some black women excited and some are simply pissed off with all of the attention and drama of putting more of our nappy hair issues on front street.

Let's keep it real, we have great work to do. The work starts with self, what we pass on to our children. Watch the video, listen to the shows on self image, and then contemplate how you are affected by your image.

Here are our helpful hints on how to fall in love with your own Nappy Hair:

1

Accept your God Given right to love your nappy hair! Understand that the choice of letting your hair grow and flow without the use of chemicals, artificial lengthners or straighteners is a God given right! You need permission from not a single soul to make this choice.

2

Forgive and forget the past! As people with kinky hair, we have been conditioned to feel badly about our hair. People with nappy hair have been taught/brainwashed by each other and oppressors to believe that our hair is ugly and unacceptable. Truth is, our hair is absolutely beautiful, exactly the way God made it. It's time to be FREE of these negative thoughts.

In order to move forward freely, release the oppressive thoughts of the past and allow them to be a reminder of the growth from a painful history.

3

Let Go and Let God! Let go of the hair relaxer and let nature take its course. When your nappy roots start to surface let them have an identity. You have more options wearing your hair in natural hair styles than in relaxed hair styles.

4

Affirm Lovingly embrace your naturally beautiful hair. Appreciate the natural flow of your kinky hair, the softness of the curl, the way it curls and shines when water and grease touches it simultaneously. Touch your hair and speak loving words. Say out loud everyday: I love my beautiful hair, naps and all! I am strong and beautiful, like my kinky hair! My hair is and I am change!

5

Choose beautiful natural hair styles that compliment you. Shape your natural hair and cut the hair relaxer off when the length is good for you. This step is most important in bringing about your emancipation. The amazing thing about natural hair styles is that they can be styled at home without a lot of drama, enjoy the benefits of being happy and nappy! Click here for more on nappy hair styles!
