Not only will participants learn how to braid hair and build a flourishing business, they more importantly are impacted in all areas of life and learn how to create long term success, leadership, and peace of mind. Budding Braiders is a proactive system designed to uplift teenage girls self-esteem, cultivate entrepreneurial & hair care skills, and leadership skills. This program is specifically developed for girls 13-17 years of age. How does the Budding Braiders work? Saniyyah Naturally partners with professionals and sponsors to provide the most comprehensive skill building training and personal development for youth. It administers success generating business principles of Madam CJ Walker, Oprah Winfrey, and great women entrepreneurs. Budding Braiders is a philanthropic organization, we always seek sponsors and partners who will help us transform girls lives.
Why is Saniyyah Naturally providing Budding Braiders training? We are increasingly aware of the statistics of black females in crisis. 43% of African American women 20 years and over have high blood pressure. Black female lead the United States in strokes, heart disease, rising suicide and death rates, and single headed households, starting at 20 years of age. For centuries, Black women have been relied on as the backbone of this entire nation. At the same time, our needs have been overlooked and often ignored. As a result black women have developed generational legacies of being 'strong black women' as a coping mechanism. It is time for the 'strong black woman' paradigm to shift to one that serves greater good. It is our belief that addressing the stress, health issues, proper preparation for the future, and ongoing support early in life, these alarming statistics will change. Direct intervention and ongoing support in middle and high school, is critical in creating a healthier paradigm. It is our theory that by building teen girls self esteem, offering sustainable income generating alternatives, and in teaching healthy adaptive skills, pregnancy rate decreases, stress and suicide rates decrease, high rates of heart related illness decreases, hope is restored, and many lives are saved!
